Community and Economic Impact

Atlantic Gold is committed to making an impact. Through our active operations, Atlantic Gold has been able to significantly contribute to provincial and municipal government revenues, spark job creation, and give back to the local economy. How we are viewed in the communities in which we operate is important to us, and is a significant driver of our business.

According to a recent study by global auditing and accounting firm KPMG, between 2022 and 2030 Atlantic Gold will spend hundreds of millions of dollars in Nova Scotia through local suppliers and indirect economic activity for the proposed Cochrane Hill project alone.

The construction phase for the Cochrane Hill Project will:

  • Generate $98M in added value for the Nova Scotia economy
  • Support 731 direct jobs
  • Provide $9M and $3M in provincial and municipal government revenues respectively.

During operations, the project will:

  • Generate $24M in value annually
  • Support 321 direct jobs in the province
  • Provide $13M and $0.7M in provincial and municipal government revenues annually.

That’s a lot of numbers to back up a simple statement: we will provide good jobs to hundreds of people and generate millions in tax revenue for government. That tax revenue can then be invested in public services like hospitals, schools, and roads.
